Hi everyone!
the Deadly Nightshade Botanical Society is looking for help with a music video for our song Belle Araingnee from the upcoming cd Accoutrements and Odditeis.
The video will be set in a parisian nightclub in a time that never was. Think steampunk Moulin rouge! We are looking for people to portray denizens of the club, bartenders, waiters, and tango dancers
We are also looking for help with people to actually film the video. or to take still photagraphy. our plan is to do this all at sodo pop, and participants will be given our eternal gratitude wine and snacks.
More details coming soon, as we have no firm date set yet, but anyone interested hit me with a comment here or at
dizzy@dnbs-music.com

thanks!

My favorite random steamcon moment was being in the bar on saturday afternoon. I was walking by a group of people who were hotel guests not afiliated with the con, they stopped me to talk about my outfit and then one thing led to another and we had a fifteen minute conversation, and I found out the three of them were also New Orleans natives, it was a lovely small world moment as we discussed how much we missed good gumbo and cafe Dumonde.
They, and everyone I talked two not directly involved in the con were curious, but polite, interested, but sincere, the hotel staff an other guests may have been staring, but it was at the beauty and diversity of steampunk, and not like we were three armed freaks...

I wish I had pictures, but cameras aren't alowed in 1857. Last night Robert and I attended the candlelight tour of  Fort Nisqually. It was perhaps one of the most beautiful and amazing historical experiences I think I've ever had. Small groups are led through the fort which is transformed into an actual night from oct 1857. The night being reinacted is the celebration of a wedding of some very important members of the Hudsen bay company.  The entire place is lit only by campfire and candlelight, and unlike most of the reanactments I've been to the people who were part of each vignette completely ignore you and go about the events of the night.
Some highlights were the two blacksmiths who had to miss the party to get things done and they were incredible, they were making these little iron pot screen holders right before your eyes.
Another favorite was the general store which was closed for the night, however there were two unscrupulous charactors pretending to be guests and making for hilarious and suspicious commentary from the stores owners and a few of the forts upstanding citezens, including an american military officer who's costume was incredible!
Another little house showed a family complete with seamstress, bagpiper, women spinning and carding wool, once again the reinactors were perfect!
and finnaly the kitchen, which was loud, rauckous and alot of fun. The reinactors showed the key differences between the people who worked as part of the company, and the servents and their zest for life, in direct oppisiton to the serious and bussiness minded people who ran the company and lived in the main house. However, the wedding party and their guests had incredibly gorgeous costuming, all in all it was an amazing and memeroble night, and I feel so lucky to have been part of it.

a while back Robert came up with the idea of a highly intelligent monkey who was also a gifted tailor and was hired by an airship crew to repair their sails....
this idea needed to be a song so here it is, a sneak preveiw of the mr. Raisons song.
the mp3 is here at the my space page.
www.myspace.com/deadlynightshadebotanicalsociety
scroll down it's the last song... We are very excited to bring this airship monkeys story to the world and here are the lyrics.

Ballad of  Mr. Raisens

Sit my freinds and you will hear
a tale so true
of a simian savior
the hero of our crew

We were three days from port
The zeplin flying high
when a wicked storm rolled in
We thought we'd surely die

The captian yelled in terror
as the sail begin to rip
he screamed jump off boys!
I'll going down with the ship

OOh ohh what could we do
oooh oh we're a  doomed airship crew

A brave soul stepped forward
a needle in his teeth
Drunk on the captians port
was the nimble theif

we hired him as a tailor
to mend and to darn
he ended up a hero
on that autumn morn

He flew up the crows nest
the Mast held with his tail
He fought the rain and the sleet
Mr Raisons would not fail.

oh ohh what could we do
oh oh a doomed airship crew

I've never seen So deft a tailor
So gentlmanly a man
no matter he's a monkey
I yearn to shake his hand.

We gave him a fine cigar
He became our new first mate
we swore to tell all the world
How he saved us from our fate

So if you soar the airways
Take this advice from me
If you want a peiceful trip
make sure mr raisens is free

OOh ohh what could we do
oooh oh we're a  doomed airship crew
